16 Days of Activism End Violence against Women and Girls

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls. The campaign runs every year from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day. The international campaign originated from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Centre for Women’s Global Leadership in 1991.

Theme for this year is “Orange the World #HearMeToo

The 16 Days of Activism also include the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women on December 6. This is a time to both reflect on violence against women and to take action to end it.

WAJ is using #iBelieve to ask Community members what they can do to prevent GBV, and invite them to use five ways in which they can become an ally in our efforts to end GBV. Welfare Association Jared is encouraging everyone to take action and commit to end gender-based violence, now and throughout the year.
