WAJ is implementing protection and psychosocial support services for vulnerable communities, refugees, and host populations.
Position Overview:
WAJ is seeking a dedicated Psycho-Socio Support Person to provide psychosocial support, counseling, emotional first aid, and awareness sessions for individuals, families, and communities facing trauma, violence, or displacement. The role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to handle sensitive cases with confidentiality and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
=Conduct psychosocial assessments of individuals and families.
=Provide individual and group counseling using a survivor-centered approach.
=Offer Psychological First Aid (PFA) and support clients in crisis.
=Identify vulnerable cases and make referrals to specialized mental health or protection services.
=Facilitate community-based psychosocial activities and awareness sessions.
=Maintain confidential case files and prepare timely reports.
=Coordinate with protection, health, and GBV service providers to ensure integrated support.
Required Qualifications
Mandatory:
=Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
=Minimum 5 years of experience in trauma counseling or psychosocial support.
=Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and ability to work with vulnerable groups.
=Knowledge of protection principles, safeguarding, and confidentiality.
Desirable:
=Training in Psychological First Aid (PFA), MHPSS, GBV, or child protection.
=Experience working with refugees, women, children, and high-risk communities.
=Fluency in local languages and understanding of cultural contexts.
